People aren't a regular theme in my artwork but every so often I get the urge to do a portrait or a study.

Back
I drew this to piece to try out some Photoshop plug ins but I no longer have this package.

Crossed Fingers
Another 100% Bryce 5. I used metaballs to create the hand and fingers.
June 2001 |

The Student
I ran this through a few Photoshop filters. It's a photograph of Ian right after he went back to school for a masters in math. He's now working towards a PhD in math.

Unexpected Arrival
This is a Bryce / Painter piece and it's very rough and rather cheesy but I like it because it helped me work out some of the aspects of a uniform I was trying to describe. So forgive me for my sentimental posting of a rubbish drawing.

|

Huntress
I made this piece in Painter and later applied it to an amphora.
October 2001 |

Le Fou
I drew this in Painter and Photoshop for use as a pillow texture in the alcove project.
October 2001 |

Waiting for News
It's another cheesy Bryce/Painter/Poser piece. While it's not great, it did serve it's purpose as a storyboard for a project I've been working for just about forever. So it has sentimental value.

Here is a poser render of the candy dish.

Out of Reach
A portrait of Sean in 3D. People have asked about the right foot's placement. Babies at this age really can fold their feet in these funny positions. At least mine could!
April 2003 |

The Bride
I drew this piece with Project Dog Waffle.
April 2003
|

Romeo Slumbers
I drew Romeo with Project Dogwaffle. It is one of two (so far) drawings inspired by Romeo and Juliet which strikes me as odd. It's not remotely my favorite of the bard's plays.

Created January 28, 2005

The Plunge
Pure Bryce and inspired by "Back" a piece I drew in 2001 with Photoshop. I changed the medium and the gender of the figure but the spirit is the same.

January 22-3, 2007
|

Under Construction
"Under Construction" is my first hand drawn portrait since December of 2006. This time I used the pen tool on four separate layers (hat, skin, shirt and sky) to draw the construction worker. In my most recent drawings, I've been using Illustrator but I prefer the color selection tools of Photoshop and I'm more comfortable with the program.

June 25-6, 2007

July 7, 2007
|

Georgia
I did another drawing in Photoshop. I like focusing on pieces and details, rather than the "whole picture." For Georgia I concentrated on the feet. I used custom shapes for the flowers on the grass.
July 9, 2007
|

Red Shoes
Drawn tonight in Photoshop. I mostly used the pen and gradient tools but I also used a custom dynamic brush for the foliage behind the walkway.

Country Butter
The Shorpy blog has been running a recent series of beautiful color photographs from the 1940s. The man stopping to read the sign at this store in Nebraska caught my eye. I decided to focus on that moment in this quick Photoshop sketch.

Wet Red Shoes
I needed a break from Bryce. The last time I drew in Photoshop was back in October when I created "Country Butter." The drawing is inspire by the red shoes that sculptor Marc Rogerson is wearing in the photo Michael Blamey posted on his Melbourne Today blog.

Red Sock
After sitting through a number of long Bryce renders, I felt the need to do an illustration in Photoshop. I really liked the bright red socks in "Red Socks 1942" a photograph posted on the Shorpy blog.
So I did my best to recreate one of the red socks.
You can buy this illustration as either a poster or a magnet.
