An Update on My Recovery:
You've probably noticed that I've been mostly posting book reviews. The reason is mostly one of a lack of time and exhaustion. While I'm nursing Harriet I have about an hour of uninterrupted sitting where I have to find time to do things one-handed. The easiest thing to do is read a book. I sometimes also iChat with family and if you see me posting to iChat two word replies, I'm probably in the middle of feeding Harriet. The book reviews I usually write at night while waiting for Harriet to wake for her last feeding before we head downstairs for bed.
Today I start back to work (thanks to the magic of telecommuting). I'm certainly not up to making a physical appearance at work but at least my mental facilities are in gear enough to work from home.
Most of my remaining complaints are physical, though none of them are directly related to the incision even though that's the first thing that pops into anyone's mind if I complain of being uncomfortable. The incision is actually so well healed I can't actually see the scar!
My main complaints are my feet and legs. I'm horribly bloated from having an IV in my arm for two days. I still have at least another week or two before the swelling will disappear.
Next on the list are the internal aches and pains any new mother has to endure regardless of delivery method. It hurts as things settle and contract. Along with the cramping comes some painful gas and an upset stomach. The stomach ache could be nerves from starting back to work or fatigue. Either way, it's another reason I'm glad my "commute" to work is just a trip upstairs.
