Wow you were quick. I haven't even finished posting!"
Comment #3: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 17:06:21
I do not think I could eat another french fry after "Fast Food Nation." Just thinking about fast food right now makes me sick."
Comment #4: Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 14:22:10
I read Fast Food Nation all ready knowing most of what was in the book. Our local Carl's Jr. used to give tours of its back kitchen and explain how all the food was made."
Comment #5: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 17:28:41
Sadly, No. 2 makes me want to go to McDonald's about now...Another week of great art. Thanks!"
Comment #6: Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 14:39:28
I haven't been to McDonald's in about a decade. I've never really liked their food."
Comment #7: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 17:47:28
:) Never read any of those, LOL. Happy Thursday!"
Comment #8: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 14:50:18
Now is your chance. I'm giving away my copy of The Fattening of America Entry details are here."
Comment #10: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 19:06:57
A couple of those are really peaking my interest..."
Comment #12: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 19:15:28
You know, in all my years I've never had #8...and they always look so good when I see photos of them.
My 13 this week is just thirteen new headers I made if you'd like to drop by and take one or all. They're free. lol"
Comment #13: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 19:42:20
My husband's aunt makes the best matzo ball soup. It's just basically chicken soup but with dumplings made from matzo."
Comment #14: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 19:16:03
I don't know any of those, but I'll be back to read the reviews of at least 2 of them. Then maybe a trip to Amazon afterwards."
Comment #16: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 19:20:38
I haven't had fast food since June 2007 when I had my Gastric Bypass - I miss McDonald's but don't miss the inevitable potty run 20 minutes after eating it! "
Comment #17: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 19:23:08
I've never read that book but those Sandra Boynton are usually really cute!"
Comment #19: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 19:32:46
Well, this is very clever. I like it. Have a great TT. :)"
Comment #21: Wednesday, February, 20, 2008 at 19:57:18
The short answer is "yes." I read randomly and I read based on recommendations. I'll read pretty much anything."
Comment #22: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 19:54:08
an, you're good. You just keep spitting these puppies out.
Got 13 books about music in there somewhere, somehow?"
Comment #23: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 19:55:25
I certainly have more than 13 music themed covers in my book collection but I don't know if I've reviewed enough to make a Thursday Thirteen. You might have to wait while I read enough books to round out my list."
Comment #24: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 20:01:37
I have a feeling I'd eat less if I read #12. I actually have it in our storage room somewhere, but can't get to it at the moment. I do want to read it."
Comment #25: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 20:12:08
It depends on how much you already know about the fast food industry."
Comment #26: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 20:30:05
oh no. i'm fasting. i didn't look at your list too closely. too difficult. but you know i love these book lists. i'll be back again. happy TT!"
Comment #28: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 21:42:24
This seems to be a common theme...I get hungry every Thursday Thirteen! Great list! Happy T-13!"
Comment #30: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 22:24:00
Okay, I agree, french fries are not a food item any more. Great list, very entertaining. Happy TT "
Comment #31: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 20:22:41
I'm glad you enjoyed the list. Thanks for stopping by."
Comment #33: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 09:49:02
Boynton's books are always popular when I include them in a Thursday Thirteen."
Comment #34: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 22:38:42
I would have never found the food on the boy who wanted to be a fish. I thought it was fish tails poking out of the bag. -grin-"
Comment #35: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 22:31:44
Then I'm glad I included notes for each book."
Comment #36: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 23:09:13
I love Jasper Fforde. I think he's so funny. Have you read all of the Thursday Next books? Yay! I wanted the fattening of America to be a better book as well. sigh. Maybe we should write one??
Happy TT! :)"
Comment #37: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 09:59:10
I haven't read the current Fforde book. I don't like the series enough to rush out and get the latest book.
For The Fattening of America I wanted more economics and less snarky parenting advice. I don't think I'm qualified to write a better book on the subject. I'm mostly a science fiction gal. "
Comment #38: Wednesday, February, 27, 2008 at 23:09:19
Cool blog - I will definitely have to come back. And you're right. French fries are not food. If only that meant they didn't count for calories. *wistful sigh*"

I own one from the series but I haven't read it yet."
Comment #43: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 05:40:26
As an avid reader of anything, I love book reviews. Good selection here."
Comment #44: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 110:04:00
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed my list. Hope you stick around to read my daily reviews."
Comment #45: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 06:06:08
How to be a Canadian... Now there's a title worthy of investigation! (You know they are trying to take over the world lol) I'm up here and here too."
Comment #46: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 10:06:27
How to be a Canadian is a very funny book. I highly recommend it."
Comment #47: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 06:22:15
Unfortunately I don't know any of these books !"
Comment #48: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 08:17:53
I have to admit that we're a nation of fast food. Hmm..."
Comment #49: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 10:09:54
Only three of the thirteen are showing fast food."
Comment #50: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 08:39:45
I burst out laughing at the Barnyard Dance. I did think you meant the animals - I'd never even noticed there were apples on the cover LOL."
Comment #52: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 08:42:58
Have you ever seen James Lileks's Gallery of Regrettable Foods? You should check out Lileks.com. Just... don't drink anything while you're there."
Comment #53: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 10:15:40
No, I haven't seen his site but I have read his Interior Desecrations."
Comment #56: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 08:58:07

Comment #57: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 09:09:17
I've only read the Pigeon Book and the Barnyard Dance. We love the Barnyard Dance! The Pigeon is always funny."
Comment #58: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 09:12:20
It's funny that most of them are kid's book! They have no problem with food unlike us, adult!"
Comment #59: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 10:21:45
Only six of the 13 are kids' books. So it's a fairly even selection."
Comment #60: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 09:23:07
You and Claudia are making me hungry this morning! Guess I'll have to make breakfast soon because coffee isn't enough after looking at tasty treats in T-13s. Hugs and blessings,"
Comment #61: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 10:55:08
This is a way-cool TT, Puss! I like Sharon Kahn's books too, because of the bizarre Texas Jew interaction. I adore Sandra Boynton (have you her books with the CD's in them? We love them on road trips, especially.) and we have #7. Happy Thursday!"
Comment #62: Friday, February, 28, 2008 at 10:24:27
We only have the board books, so no CDs. My car doesn't have a CD player so we wouldn't be able to use the CDs anyway on a road trip. Now that my oldest can read, he takes care of reading to my youngest when we go on road trips."
Comment #63: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 11:06:17
Oh, clever idea! I'll have to use that for a TBR challenge someday. :)"
Comment #64: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 11:28:30
It took me a minute to see the apples on Barnyard Dance"
Comment #65: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 12:13:15
I still need to read Fast Food Nation and The Fattening of America, while I'm still in my ever-short-lived non-fiction phase. Thanks for reminding me. :)
Happy TT

Comment #66: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 12:18:01
I love Fforde's Thursday Next series.
This is a really neat idea for a 13!"
Comment #67: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 13:02:04
Another fun set of covers! I love your themed TT's, and you didn't even have to resort to a cookbook. Brava!"
Comment #68: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 10:29:37
I haven't reviewed any cookbooks. That's why. :)"
Comment #69: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 13:55:24
Great post. I love #2: A hamburger with "lettuce.""
Comment #71: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 14:15:08
#7 was a big hit with my kids when they were younger."
Comment #72: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 14:24:28
Interesting idea for a TT. The phrase,"Food on Books" was enough to make me click through and see what exactly that meant. Cool!"
Comment #73: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 14:53:48
Great selection of covers. I think I need to read the story about the little pea."
Comment #74: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 12:23:48
I highly recommend Little Pea and Rosenthal's unconventional memoir: Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life. Both are excellent."
Comment #75: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 15:50:07
I'm always looking for children books to buy for my friend's kids. I notice the Dinosaurs book you list, and I think they would love that one. They love anything Dinosaurs :)
Thanks for visiting my blog, I hope you come back soon! Have a good Thursday
Julia-Yen"
Comment #76: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 12:58:48
Jane Yollen and Mark Teague have a number of "How Do Dinosaurs..." books out."
Comment #78: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 19:34:54
The Sandra Boynton and Le Grand covers are my faves this week. Actually, the 'How to be a Canadian' one caught my eye, as well - being Canadian, eh. "
Comment #79: Thursday, February, 28, 2008 at 17:03:48
There is a chapter on spotting the American. It basically makes fun of Canadian use of "eh" versus the American use of "huh". "
