Steph says:
"Um. This is awesome because I LOVE fruits and veggies!
I'm a vegetarian and so they figure up a huge part of my diet.
But instead of having trouble getting my kids to eat fruits and veggies - I'm not a mom actually, I'm a youngling still at home - I try to get my mom, dad and brother to consume them!
How do I do it? Partly by forcing the wondrous world of fruits and veggies upon them. The easiest way is just to cook for them. In the end, they realize that it's all very delicious. I remember cooking portobello mushroom, spinach & ricotta cheese lasagna and they ate it up. My parents often beg me to cook it when they're feeling veggie-ish.
I have to say though, when I was younger I was always more of a vegetable person rather than a fruit lover. Now, I've begun warming up to fruits. I have actually just recently discovered a passion for oranges! I have been eating at least 1 or 2 oranges per day. My mom constantly has to buy more just to keep up with me.
I think the key to getting anyone - kids and adults alike - to eat their fruits and veggies is to show them that they're actually quite delicious! Our society for some reason has put this sort of dark cloud over healthy foods and too often we ignore the fact that they're really really yummy.
Though, I will NEVER like pineapple. The texture gives me the heebie-jeebies. "

Meredith Peters says:
"My favorite fruit or vegetable is fresh dark cherries from Washington State. Casseroles are my favorite way of getting veggies in and also having children help prepare the veggies helps them be friendlier with the veggies! We like to grow them, help pick them out at the store, help peel them and cook them and then we are more interested in eating them!"

Barbara Baker:
"This would be a wonderful book to read to my children. I have never had a problem with feeding my children vegtables...my 5 year old has to have asperagus and broccoli and my 6 year old loves broccoli and corn...as long as I have a green with every meal I'm good to go. If I have at least a favorite of both girls, they wont eat the meal. I guess you could say I've done my job (HE-HE-HE).

Camille says:
"Hi...
I have to laugh. When I saw this giveaway, I thought it was a book about the ABCS on how to GROW vegetables and fruits *smile*.
My kids are beyond learning their ABCs, but this would be an excellent book for our oldest daughter to tuck into her Hope Chest!!
Thanks so much for hosting this giveaway! I will link you on our blog in the 'Contest Corner'.
Also, how did we get our kids to eat their vegetables. Well, I think we have always had vegetable eaters because we never made a big fuss over them.
We also have a rule that if something new is being served - they are not allowed to say 'I don't like that'. If those words come out of their mouths prior to tasting the new food - they have to eat a regular-sized (for their age/size) portion. However, if they taste it (and this is always at least 3 bites) and do not like it, they can say 'I don't care for that' - and they don't have to eat anymore. What has happened the majority of the time is they find that they DO like this new food and will gobble it up.
I have also found that the more the kids help in the kitchen - and you can get them started on 'making dinner' as young as 2, the less picky they are at the table. A simple thing to do with a 2-year-old is have them make a relish tray. You cut up whatever will go on the relish tray - and then they get to put the stuff on the tray. Let them use their creative minds to 'decorate' the tray however they want it. So, the pickles are in with the black olives - that's okay!
Blessings to you -
Camille
There is a season...

Suse says:
"Believe it or not, my favorite vegetable is ...
Brussel Sprouts!
It is true. However, if that is not quirky enough, it must be RAW! No cooking that thing and turning it to mush or some nasty cabbage-wanna-be! UGH!
A raw brussel sprout, its leaves pulled off the "core," makes a delightfully different salad green. Try it, you may find somkething far yummier than the trendy but horrid raddicchio."

"My favorite veggie is spinach, but in general I prefer to eat fruit. I do not have any kids. I usually put a handful of veggies on top of my pizza in order to get my husband to eat more veggies. Another habit I picked up from my mother is to bring the fruits to the dinner table right after dinner. I usually start peeling and cutting fruits as soon as I finish dinner, before the plates are even clear. My husband will eat fruits when I cut it up for him."
