I finished Rebecca's World by Terry Nation. It was his first attempt at writing tween fiction. It's a fairly typical fantasy adventure where a young girl ends up in a strange world and becomes a hero before finding her way home. The book has some intricate and groovy illustrations. The illustrations more than anything else make the book feel dated. I hope to finish Cheap Cabernet by Cathie Beck by Monday. I should have had one more renewal on the book but it's very popular right now and a fellow patron has put it on hold. I don't mind — that's how I got it in the first place. It just means that I have to give it priority this weekend as I only have Saturday and Sunday left to finish it. I'm about 1/3 of the way through. I also have going Mio My Son by Astrid Lindgren, the creator of Pippi Longstocking. Were I not suddenly racing to finishing Cheap Cabernet, I would be finishing Mio My Son instead. It's a delightful fantasy adventure story that fans of Gail Carson Levine will like it. Finally, I'm reading a collection of poetry by Bucky Sinister called All Blacked Out & No Where to Go. It also has Whisky and Robots, which was the collection actually on my wishlist. Upcoming wishlist reads include (they are in my hands waiting to be read):
The Featured Wish for June 04, 2010:
I just finished The Lost Hero and want to keep going with the series. I especially love how the action and mystery is set in the Bay Area. After finishing the book my husband and I discussed potential locations for The Son of Neptune based on clues left in the first book. Comment #1: Saturday, June, 4, 2011 at 08:41:27 Like the cover. It could be somewhere like Glacier Bay or Antartica. Not sure though. Comment #12: Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 18:04:33 Pussreboots Have you read the Percy Jackson books? While the new series isn't exactly a continuation of it, it is related to the first series. © 1997-2013 Sarah Sammis
