What Are You Reading: December 05, 2011: 12/05/11
My semester is wrapping up. This is my last full week and I'm down to two classes from four. I have a paper to write and an essay test to take. Being so busy in these finally weeks has cut into my reading time.
For those of you keeping track, I have finally started Hex Hall after six weeks of planning to start it! It's very good so far. I should have started it sooner.
I am still slowly reading Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani. Something has finally happened, 80 pages into the book. Had not my mother and so many of my on and offline friends told me to stick with it, I would have stopped about thirty pages ago.
Next up is Flight by Sherman Alexie and Red Glove by Holly Black. Plus I have a bunch of exwishlist books I bought at the start of the semester to read like Queen of the Dead by Stacey Kade and The Last Little Blue Envelope by Maureen Johnson.
What about you? What are you reading?

Big Stone Gap and the trilogy is a bit of an acquired taste I think - they are quiet books. Hope you enjoy it more as you go. Good luck with your finals

I have moved Big Stone Gap from my bathroom read to my just before bed read. I think I need to read more of it in one sitting.

I liked Big Stone Gap, but it is not an action packed book!
I know you are looking forward to finishing this semester and having time to read. I don't blame you!

It was a great semester. I learned tons but I'm ready for a few weeks of free time.

Enjoy your books! I want to read the Adriana Trigiani book. Also, the one by Marian Keyes. They both sound really good.

If you want light, go with Angels. If you want something a little more literary, go with Big Stone Gap. Both are good but in different ways.

Good luck with your finals. I hope you enjoy Hex Hall, I've got it waiting patiently for me. Have a great week and happy reading :)

I have exactly one essay test left. Then I'm done! Hex Hall so far is fun.

You have a heap of reading/reviews to keep you occupied apart from school work as well. Have a good week.

I only work on reviews after the kids go to bed. I don't plan to spend my vacation writing reviews beyond what I'm currently writing.

I don't know if I'll ever read Hex Hall...that one isn't calling to me.
I did enjoy Big Stone Gap, and another one in that series. Hope you do, too. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Hex Hall is better than you'd expect.

How did you like Angels? And the Doctor Who? I've never read a Doctor Who book, but I love the t.v. shows.
I also tried a Stone Gap book by Trigliani. Couldn't finish it. All of my work friends were raving about it, but I thought it was boring as hell. couldn't get past the first fifty or so pages, and with my health issues, I'm not forcing myself to read things that bore me...(is that over dramatic?) LOL. Purely for pleasure now and the occassional review request. :) Have a great week, and glad you get to relax a bit with a few less classes. Enjoy.

The Doctor Who graphic novels are fun stories but the artwork is inconsistent. I liked Angels, although, some of the plot hit a little close to home. Big Stone Gap keeps chugging along. Since I own it, I don't feel any particular pressure to rush it. I hope to have it done by the middle of January.
