Ray Dream 5.5 - Creating a Chair for Bryce

Step 1: Create the Seat

My favorite modeling window in Ray Dream is the Free Form Modeler. To save time and to keep the vertical suports of the chair parrallel, I created two squares which will be modified along the same extrusion path.

Chair Back Start

Most chairs don't have straight backs. If they did, they'd be really uncomfortable because the human spine curves. So to make my chair more appealing for any poser people who might sit in it, I added a point near the center of the path and then converted the point to a curve to give a nice slope to it.

Chair Back Add Point

Once done with adding the first point and thus the curve to fit the sitter's back, I then extended the length of the back along a straight line to create the area that will be back legs of the chair.
